Recipients
During the past two years Patrick’s Pals has helped many local children with special needs. It is wonderful to see how your generosity is impacting children and their families in the simplest of ways. Thank you!
Organizations:
Somerset Hills Handicapped Riding Center has received over $5,000 to enable children to receive physical & occupational therapy lessons while riding a horse. These hippotherapy lessons are both therapeutic and fun for children.
Matheny School in Peapack , NJ received money to expand their adaptive physical education department. Purchasing additional adaptive equipment gives each child the opportunity to participate in physical activities that mimic the games of soccer, basketball, volleyball & baseball. It also allows for an extended swimming curriculum.
Individuals:
After having their house foreclosed due to mounting medical expenses, the family of a 5 year old Hunterdon County boy with spinda bifida needed help. Patrick's Pals funded the medical expenses for a procedure to replace a malfunctioned shunt for the child. This allowed his family to avoid filing for bankruptcy.
For the second year, a young boy with special needs being raised by a single mother battling cancer was enrolled in summer camp. This provided his mother peace of mind to know that he would flourish in an environment that accommodated his needs.
A two night respite care at an accredited medical facility was arranged & paid for on behalf of two families whose children have multiple disabilities. Respite provides the parents a break from the daily stress of caretaking while the children are cared for by competent nurses who can meet their complicated needs.
A nine year old Hunterdon County resident battling polyarticular rheumatoid arthritis received a hot wax machine to temporarily relieve her hands of pain. This temporary relief enables her to perform tasks that most children take for granted, such as bathing, dressing and playing.
