Tony Rice
Tony Rice serves on the Board of Directors for Patrick’s Pals. Tony has been a consistent supporter of the charity since our inception in 2008 (making all 3 outings), and we are really thrilled to have him as part of our organization. Tony was born 1967 in Greenwood, South Carolina. While growing up in South Carolina, Rice played high school football for Woodruff High School under Coach Willie Varner. Rice entered Notre Dame in 1986 and was the crown jewel in Holtz's first recruiting class. As the quarterback, Tony was one of the cornerstones on Notre Dame's 1988 national championship team which went 12-0 and defeated West Virginia in the Fiesta Bowl. He holds the school record for rushing yardage by a quarterback in a season (884 in 1989) and a career (1,921), ranking 16th among all Irish players in the latter category. Tony also stands sixth in school history with 4,882 yards of total offense. Today, Tony lives in South Bend, IN.
