Frank Stams
Patrick’s Pals is honored to have Frank Stams on our Board of Directors. Like Tony Rice, Frank has been to all three of the Patrick’s Pals golf outings. Frank is originally from Akron, OH, where he attended St. Vincent’s / St. Mary’s High School. He received a football scholarship to the University of Notre Dame, where he started all 11 games at fullback as sophomore in '85 and then switched to defense when Lou Holtz became head coach. In 1988, Frank was a consensus All-American for the 1988 Notre Dame national championship team. Also in 1988, Frank was named Lineman of the Year by the Moose Krause Chapter of the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame. He was named MVP of '88 Miami game after forcing two fumbles and recovering another and named 1989 Fiesta Bowl defensive MVP for his two sacks and three tackles vs. West Virginia. Frank was a second-round choice of Los Angeles Rams in '89 NFL draft and played for three years with Rams before moving on to Cleveland, to the Carolina Panthers and then back to Cleveland. Frank lives outside of Akron with his wife Mari and children Rhiannon and Mason.
